Summer is HERE! Time for all the sunshine, swimming, outdoor activities, and…itchiness.
YIKES…did anyone say poison ivy? Along with all of the joy the outdoor brings, there’s no denying this pesky little plant causes at least one incident a season. But friends, I do NOT use the term “magic” lightly when it comes to this DIY spray. Because it’s just purely that.
I’ve used this spray faithfully for the last 2 summers with my family and I’m amazed every single time. In fact, my sweet boy had a run-in with the green stuff yesterday while riding his bike and needless to say, wasn’t too happy to wake up to itches this morning!
This toxin-free recipe stops the itch almost instantly and dries up the rash in hours. I’ll never NOT have this on hand ever again.
It’s important to note that as part of our toxin-free journey, my family and I use essential oils for almost everything around our home (first aid, emotional support, cleaning, etc.) so do your research and find a brand that’s organic, non-GMO, pure therapeutic, and right for your family! You can take a look at what we use here.
Ok, sweet friends, here’s the recipe below…be sure to let me know if you try it and how much you love it!
Magic DIY Poison Ivy Spray
- 2 tbsp raw apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp filtered water
- touch of sea salt
- lavender, tea tree, and peppermint essential oils
Combine all ingredients in a 2 oz. glass spray bottle. Start with 5 drops of each essential oil and build depending on the user’s age. I personally used 10 drops each for my 7 year old son, so portion according to need. Shake well before each use and spritz over infected area 2 times daily until healed.
